Cookie statement

The cookies and storage this website uses, who sets them, how long they last and how to change your privacy choices.

1. What this statement covers

This statement explains the cookies and similar technologies (such as local storage) used on the SectraTEK website at www.sectratek.com (the "Site"): what each is for, how long it lasts, and how to change your choices. It also describes the session cookies of the SectraTEK customer area. The Privacy Policy explains how we handle personal information more generally, and the Data Retention Schedule says how long we keep it.

2. The kinds of items we use

  • Essential. These keep the Site secure and working and remember your choices. They cannot be switched off. Basic server logs and a measurement of our own pages' speed are also essential. They do not use cookies.
  • Analytics (optional). These help us understand which pages are useful.
  • Advertising (optional). These help us measure and improve our marketing campaigns. This category includes conversion measurement, which records that a form was completed, using an event name and coarse campaign information only.

Optional items are off until you allow them. If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, advertising and conversion measurement stay off, and the signal takes priority over any choice you make in the privacy choices panel. To allow them, turn off the signal in your browser. Optional analytics, advertising and conversion technologies are used only on the marketing pages of www.sectratek.com and on the confirmation page shown after a form is submitted. They are never used on forms, on Trust or legal pages (including this one), or in My Sectra, the sign-in pages or the SectraTEK applications.

3. Cookies and storage this Site sets itself

SectraTEK sets these items on this site.

The stk_consent cookie remembers your privacy choices, and it is strictly necessary for that purpose. It belongs to www.sectratek.com only: it has no domain setting, so it is never sent to any other SectraTEK host and is never shared with another site. It is available on all pages of the Site, it is sent only over a secure connection, and it is not sent with requests that other sites start. Our own script on the page reads and writes it, so it is not marked as unreadable by scripts. It holds a random consent identifier, your choices, the version of the texts you saw, the version of our vendor list and the time. It holds no name and no email address.

The two local storage items stay in your browser. They remember your light or dark theme and your reduced motion choice, and they are not sent to us or to anyone else.

4. Your privacy choices

"Your Privacy Choices" is linked in the footer of every page. It opens the panel below, where you can:

  • see the essential items, which are always on, with a plain list of what they cover;
  • switch Analytics and Advertising on or off, one by one;
  • choose "Accept all" or "Decline all", which have equal prominence, or "Save choices";
  • withdraw your consent at any time, which is as easy as giving it. Optional items stop from your next page view, and the cookies we list for them are deleted;
  • see when your choice was saved, or that no choice has been saved and optional items are off.

A short banner offers the same choices on marketing pages when there is a choice to make, which is when at least one optional category is in use and you have not yet chosen. If we add a vendor or a purpose, we ask you again for the new category only. If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, the panel says "Your browser sent a Global Privacy Control signal and we honored it" and shows that advertising stays off while the signal is on.

If your browser does not run scripts, the panel cannot change your choices, and the Site then uses only the essential items.

5. Vendors

Each vendor runs only for the categories you allow, only on marketing pages and on the confirmation page shown after a form is submitted, and never in the places listed in Section 2. Vendors receive no customer, license, usage-record, evidence or staff data, and no form entries. The table is generated from our internal vendor register, so it lists exactly the vendors that are active.

Vendors are listed here when they are active.

6. Other parts of SectraTEK

The customer area (my.sectratek.com) and the customer sign-in (auth.sectratek.com) set only strictly necessary cookies. One is a secure session cookie named __Host-stk_sid. It is not readable by scripts, is not sent with requests that other sites start, has no domain setting and so belongs to that one host, and lasts no longer than your sign-in session. Another is a short-lived cookie used only during the steps of signing in. Our staff systems use the same kind of session cookie with stricter settings. We do not use analytics, advertising or conversion technologies on these hosts or on other SectraTEK hosts such as the status page and the download and upload hosts.

7. Controlling cookies in your browser

Most browsers let you block or delete cookies and local storage. If you delete stk_consent, we ask for your choices again. If you block essential items, parts of the Site may stop working.

You can turn on Global Privacy Control in a browser or extension that supports it. We treat it as a request to opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information and of targeted advertising, for the browser that sends it. You turn it on for each browser you use. Some browsers have a "Do Not Track" setting. There is no common standard for it, so this Site does not change how it works when it receives one.

8. Changes

We update this statement when our vendors, purposes or cookies change. The vendor and cookie tables change automatically with the Site. The version number and the date of the last update are at the top of this page. When we add a category or change the wording of the privacy choices, we ask you for your choices again.
